The EB-5 visa program allows foreign nationals who invest money in businesses in the United States to get a green card. These investments must create or preserve at least 10 jobs in a United States business for U.S. workers. Workers and businesses in the United States should find the EB-5 as a boon for regional economic stability and growth. The United States business receiving this investment does not have to put any money on the line, and they gain an infusion of capital, a stabilization of their work force, and hopefully growth.

While there has been and continues to arguments in Congress regarding policy and how to use it to grow American business and the economy, the EB-5 job creation opportunities seem to make those on both sides of the political spectrum happy. The government does not have to spend any money in creating these jobs, but instead just stand back and allow private investors to support these regional enterprises through their own investments.

One part of the EB-5 job creation policy that politicians like is that jobs are created without government expense. The 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (also referred to as the stimulus bill) also created jobs, but each job cost from $100,000 to $400,000. Each job the EB-5 program creates (at least tens of thousands of jobs per year) does not cost American citizens anything. For example, in 2013, it is estimated that over 30,000 jobs were created through this program.

EB-5 is a solid and long-last investment and growth program. Often referred to as patient capital, EB-5 provides growth in the short-term, which many companies looking for outside investors often need.  These investments are likely to be able to sustain extended economic hardships and come through on the other side.
