On Behalf of | Jun 27, 2023 | Immigration

Moving to the U.S. to work in California is a lot easier when you can also bring your family. You can explore several avenues to make this goal a reality. Including your family members on your initial visa application is often the quickest and most effective way of securing their visas.

Common types of child visa applications

Applications for family visas come in a number of different classes. One of the most common and easy for applicants to obtain is the F22. This enables spouses of green card holders who are currently outside of the country to include their children on their application. The current filing fee is listed as $545.

The F27 admission class covers spouses of green card holders who are currently living in the U.S. It allows them to include their children on their application. The current filing fee is $85 for children 14 and older. There is no fee for children under the age of 14.

Other types of child visa applications

CR2 and IR2 are classes that apply to the children of permanent residents who are currently living outside of the U.S. The spouses of U.S. citizens who apply for spousal visas from outside of the country are entitled to include their children on these applications.

There are differences between the two classes that need to be noted. With the CR2, the child receives a conditional green card. This will be valid for two years, after which it must be renewed. The IR2 class grants the child a green card that contains no conditions. It will be valid for the next 10 years. Filing fees for both of these classes are listed at $1,080.
